Toolbox

A menu bar app for Mac that runs local AI models, answers from an offline wiki and shows every step.

Built for my own Mac. Not released.

How an answer is made

Every step shows in the panel as it runs. Each one is tagged: AI, plain code or fetched data.

The offline wiki

Questions that need facts search an offline library and cite it. No source, no number: figures not in the sources are removed.

A finished wiki answer: nine steps folded into one line, the answer with numbered citations, two sources and one related article.

Pictures

Switch to Image and describe a picture. Enhance writes a detailed prompt first, and the picture renders on the Mac.

Web

Turn on the globe for a chat to search the web, read links and check live weather.

Learning

Train keeps an answer as a lesson for similar questions. Bad marks one to fix.

Training Examples: filters for Good, Bad and Problems, a logged problem and a picture marked Bad with a note.

The Mac at work

Two meters at the top of the panel show how hard the GPU is working and how much memory is in use.

Private

  • Models run in Ollama on the Mac.
  • Chats are saved on the Mac.
  • Nothing goes out unless Web is on.

media-genius

An AI agent that makes cinematic product films in code.

How a film gets made

Ask for a video in the terminal. It shows its work at each step, and the final renders only on your OK.

    A video, in plain words.

  2. Questions

    One round: format, theme, style, words, length, sound.

  3. Storyboard

    The idea, the shots and their rhythm.

  4. Stills

    Key frames and a cover.

  5. Draft

    A fast render of the whole film.

  6. Review

    Frame by frame, scored against the brief.

  7. Final

    Motion blur and full quality, on your OK.

How it’s built

One file says how it works. The rest is a toolkit it reads as it goes: code that draws and renders, guides, and a registry of named styles.

Brands live outside it, one folder each, so the agent itself stays neutral.

Every film is a project. One .mgp file holds it, saved after every step. Ask for a change months later and it opens right where it left off. Before a new job, it searches past projects’ notes for what worked.

How it learns

Every note on a job becomes a rule in the guide where it belongs. Rules are merged instead of piled up, and guides split as they grow, so it stays quick to read.

    Big guides split by topic, and repeats are merged.

  4. The next job

    It reads only the guides it needs.

  • Notes are written into the guides during the job, not saved for later.
  • Craft goes in the guides. The user's own taste goes in the agent's memory.
  • Each guide has a size limit. Past it, the guide splits by topic.
  • An index lists every guide, so each job reads only what it needs.
  • Every change is versioned, so any rule can be rolled back.
